Stars Reach Wipe Erases Progress as MMO Tests Shift

Stars Reach is preparing a full alpha wipe while updating customization and UI, as SpiritVale enters early access and several MMO betas approach.

A wipe in Stars Reach is not a minor reset: homesteads, bases, buildings, inventory, resources, loot, skill trees, levels, and character profiles are all being cleared. Players who want a record of their current work should take screenshots before the sandbox patch arrives.

The reset follows a round of alpha improvements from Playable Worlds, including refreshed character customization, improved reticles, right-click popup menus, and tutorial popups. Creature spawns have also been redistributed, with tougher wildlife added to the mix. The immediate value of the wipe is a cleaner testing environment; the cost is that no current player progress carries forward.

Stars Reach is built around a more simulation-heavy MMO model than a fixed quest world. Its cellular automata simulation and similar agents are meant to generate environments and gameplay that players can change rather than simply solve once. That ambition connects the project to the player-driven legacy associated with Raph Koster, Ultima Online, and Star Wars Galaxies-but it also makes repeated testing resets central to development.

Steam early access is planned with three paid options: the $29.99 Firstlight Pack, $49.99 Voyager Pack, and $79.99 Cosmonaut Pack. Exact timing for its access phases and invitations has not been set here, so prospective players should not treat the current alpha state as a persistent launch world. Playable Worlds has also directed testers to its Twitch livestream for the next update.

Elsewhere, SpiritVale has entered proper early access, while MapleStory Classic World is targeting an August beta, Arkheron is beginning a two-week beta, and Stars of Icarus is aiming for a first-quarter 2027 full launch. The practical split is simple: test Stars Reach only if you accept resets, try SpiritVale as an evolving early-access game, and watch the scheduled betas for a more defined entry point.
