Starsand Island 1.0 Makes Co-op the Real New Feature

Four players can now farm, fish, build, and explore together in Starsand Island, but the co-op structure makes one choice especially important: select the host island carefully. Version 1.0 uses a host-driven setup, with the host able to control harvesting permissions, while each player retains their own island development rather than sharing permanent progression.

Seed Sparkle Lab’s life sim reached full release on August 18, 2026, ending an Early Access period that began on February 11 for PC and Xbox. The 1.0 launch arrived simultaneously on Steam, Microsoft Store, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, making the PS5 and Switch 2 editions full-release versions rather than delayed ports. Digital Switch 2 availability began on launch day; physical PS5 and Switch 2 editions are scheduled for November 12, with the PS5 physical edition listed at $39.99.

Co-op is more than a way to split chores. Multiplayer activities such as fishing, farming, and exploration earn dedicated points for a multiplayer-only shop. Players focused on unlocking systems and building options should organize sessions around the most advanced host island, since visitor access is tied to that host’s progress. Exact invite rules, save ownership, and host migration details have not been specified.

The social side also received a substantial upgrade. Nineteen NPCs now have new three-heart and five-heart relationship quests, while 14 romanceable characters gain additional dating activities including picnics, kite flying, and arcade games. That gives solo players a meaningful reason to move from Early Access to 1.0 even if co-op is not their priority, though exact affinity thresholds and romance quest requirements remain undisclosed.

The Autumn Pumpkin Carnival adds a seasonal storyline, event quests, and exclusive cosmetics and collectibles, including outfits, makeup, emotes, recipes, and furniture. Its activities include growing festival pumpkins, catching glowing jellyfish, and feeding animals special feed to produce candy. The event’s end date, reward tiers, and drop rates have not been announced.

The immediate decision is straightforward: buy 1.0 for shared island sessions and expanded relationships, but wait for platform-specific performance and pricing details if those are the deciding factors.
