Suikoden STAR LEAP is a Japan-first mobile release, not a worldwide launch. That distinction matters most for overseas fans: August 7 applies to Japanese iOS and Android storefronts, while international mobile and Steam versions remain dated only for a later announcement.
Konami’s final pre-launch checkpoint arrives on August 6 at 20:00 JST with Suikoden Live Vol. 7: Suikoden STAR LEAP Pre-Launch Program, streaming on YouTube. With the Japanese service opening the following day, this is where players should expect the practical details still absent from the release notice: combat and progression structure, recruitment rules, account setup, and the shape of its free-to-play economy.
The official description currently confirms a basic-free model with item purchases, but not whether recruitment is centered on character banners, how stamina limits play, or whether launch offers include passes and starter packs. Those details will determine whether STAR LEAP preserves Suikoden’s appeal as a story-led roster RPG or leans heavily on familiar mobile-service systems. It is described as a single-player experience, so players should not expect an MMO-style launch.

Its franchise credentials are substantial. STAR LEAP is a canon Suikoden entry set in Solar Year 453, after Suikoden V and a few years before the first Suikoden. The story begins with an attack on a lakeside village east of the Scarlet Moon Empire; the hero and companions Hisui, Shirin, and Shapur rebuild it as a home base before becoming involved in wider events. Returning figures include Viktor, Flik, and Odessa, while the new story centers on another set of 108 Stars and the Rune of Change, one of the 27 True Runes.
Japanese players can check App Store and Google Play pre-registration now. Players elsewhere should not assume that Japanese rewards, accounts, or storefront access will transfer to the later global version. Konami’s stated order is Japanese mobile first, worldwide mobile next, then Steam worldwide — including Japan — with some territory exclusions possible.

Watch the August 6 program for a global release window and the first complete explanation of how STAR LEAP’s recruitment and paid systems work at launch.
