Summoners War 2025 Championship Unveils New Format, Heads to Paris

Com2uS has revealed an ambitious overhaul for the Summoners War Championship (SWC) 2025, redesigning its qualification process to include more regions, introducing open wildcard tournaments, and staging the World Finals in Paris. The changes are intended to heighten competition, spotlight emerging talent, and deliver a premium live experience for fans worldwide.

Format Overhaul: More Regions, More Opportunities

The revamped “Road to Glory” now divides the Asia-Pacific region into four distinct pools—Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia and an “Others” category—to align teams by skill level and foster underrepresented areas. The result is a finely tuned regional circuit that increases the number of qualifying slots and ensures that each pool reflects local playstyles and strengths.

  • Korea Cup: Returning powerhouse region with three qualifying slots.
  • Japan Cup: Dedicated tournament for Japanese teams, also awarding three spots.
  • Southeast Asia Cup: Houses countries like Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
  • Others Cup: Brings together Australia, South Asia and emerging markets.

Wildcard Tournaments in Paris and Hangzhou

For the first time, SWC opens its doors to open-entry wildcard events. Three additional teams will earn World Finals berths from each of these global qualifiers:

  • Paris Open Qualifier: Scheduled in June 2025, this European event will welcome any team with ambition and a valid Com2uS account.
  • Hangzhou Open Qualifier: Mirroring the European model, teams across China and neighboring regions can compete for three wildcard slots.

These tournaments are designed to inject fresh blood into the championship, giving solo-queue stars and small guilds a stage to prove themselves.

World Finals Head to Paris Esports Arena

On November 1, 2025, the top 12 teams—nine regional champions plus six wildcard victors—will clash in a single-elimination bracket at the Paris Esports Arena. The live event promises a cinematic stage design, high-fidelity in-game broadcasts, and local fan activations across the city.

In-Person Regional Cups Rebound

After a largely online 2024 calendar, SWC2025 reinstates live competition for each regional Cup:

  • Europe Cup: Paris, France
  • Americas Cup: São Paulo, Brazil
  • Asia-Pacific Cup: Busan, South Korea

Com2uS aims to recapture the electric atmosphere of in-person events, improving production values and offering fans meet-and-greets with their favorite players.

Reactions from Organizers and Players

“SWC2025 is all about leveling the playing field and creating momentous upsets,” said Sarah Lee, Head of Global Esports at Com2uS. “By widening our regional nets and adding wildcards, we’re not just growing the competition—we’re rewriting what mobile esports can achieve.”

Last year’s standout, Amazii from runner-up team Rampage, shared his enthusiasm: “More regions mean more storylines. Underdogs can now make headlines, and that unpredictability is exactly what we need.”

Audience Growth and Prize Pool Boost

SWC2024 peaked at 1.2 million concurrent viewers in Berlin, a 15% increase over 2023. To escalate engagement further, Com2uS has raised the overall prize pool by 20%, bringing it to $500,000. Each regional champion will secure a guaranteed share, and wildcard winners will earn performance bonuses.

Why These Changes Matter

As mobile esports seeks parity with PC and console scenes, SWC2025’s format revamp could set a new industry benchmark. By balancing regional representation, championing grassroots talent and delivering top-tier live spectacles, Com2uS is positioning Summoners War at the forefront of competitive gaming’s next wave.

All regional Cups and the Paris Finals will be streamed live on Twitch, YouTube and the official Summoners War website. The journey begins in August 2025, when the first qualifiers kick off across major cities worldwide.
