Tearaway will still be playable after 13 August 2026. Parts of what made it distinctive will not be. Its online services are scheduled to end that day, cutting off the Tearaway.me component used to access and print the paper craft templates unlocked during the adventure. For a game built around turning its world into something players could physically make, that is a more meaningful loss than a routine server notice suggests.
August’s PlayStation service closures cover more than eight games across PS3, PS4, PS5, and Vita. None of the affected titles are currently expected to vanish outright from the PlayStation Store. That sounds reassuring until the usual modern-game distinction enters the picture: a listing can remain available while the features that gave it value quietly stop functioning.
For Tearaway on PS Vita and PS4, the stated casualty is its official web component. Players will no longer be able to download and print the papercraft plans earned in-game. The base campaign remains intact, but the game’s connection between digital progress and real-world creation becomes a dead end. A preservation-friendly game design has been left dependent on a service with an expiry date. There is no grand scandal here; it is simply poor long-term stewardship of a feature that was part of the original pitch.
The immediate risk is broader than one set of printable templates. Whenever online services close, trophies tied to uploads, downloads, shared content, backend validation, multiplayer, or events can become unobtainable. Players should inspect Tearaway’s trophy list before 13 August and complete any requirement that mentions sharing, community interaction, networking, or online functionality.

The August schedule demonstrates how quickly this becomes permanent. inFAMOUS 2 and inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood lose online services on 31 August, including their user-created-content functions. Both games remain playable, yet their Platinum trophies become unreachable because that UGC gate is part of the requirement path. The console still boots the game. The completion record is gone. Those are very different things.
Other listed shutdowns include NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 and WWE 2K Battlegrounds on 20 August; then Let It Die, NHL 22, and NHL 23 on 31 August. Each has its own exposure, but the rule is simple: treat every online-labelled trophy or mode as a deadline item, not backlog material.

Players should not confuse Tearaway’s service end with Sony’s regional storefront closures. Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua lose PS3 PlayStation Store purchasing access in August 2026. More Latin American and Middle Eastern territories follow later in the year, while remaining regions retain PS3 and PS Vita store access until July 2027.

Previously purchased content will remain downloadable for the foreseeable future, according to Sony, but new purchases on those legacy storefronts will stop after the relevant regional cutoff. That means DLC, digital-only add-ons, and alternate editions need to be bought and downloaded before a local store closes. “Downloadable later” is useful. It is not the same as a permanent ownership guarantee.
Tearaway’s campaign survives the shutdown. Its printable paper-world archive does not. Players who want that part of the game need to secure it before 13 August 2026.
