The remaster’s mod browser is built into the game and powered by mod.io. Before downloading anything, PS5 players must link a CD PROJEKT RED account with mod.io from the main menu. The console catalogue is curated rather than an open copy of the PC library: each mod must meet PlayStation requirements before it appears in the browser.

More than 40 PS5-compatible mods are available at launch, with 44 listed in the initial catalogue. That is enough room for visual changes, quality-of-life fixes, and gameplay revisions, but the trophy cost applies equally. A cleaner HUD or cosmetic Geralt appearance can mark a save as modded just as surely as a combat overhaul.

Console script-based mods face extra restrictions and must be built using The Witcher 3 REDkit. That limits the catalogue compared with PC, but it also makes the in-game browser much less chaotic than manually managing load orders and loose files.

Built-in settings do not count as mods

Do not confuse the Mods menu with the remaster’s ordinary settings. For a trophy-first run, use those built-in options freely and leave the Mods menu alone. The game’s redesigned combat, adaptive camera, rebuilt skill trees, photo mode, and accessibility tools provide plenty to explore without creating a modded save.

The fastest safe workflow for trophies and mods

• Start a fresh, unmodded save. Do not enable anything through the integrated mod browser before finishing trophy objectives.
• Use manual saves in dedicated clean slots. Keep several copies before missable objectives and never overwrite them with a cog-marked file.
• Finish the 79-trophy PS5 list. That includes the platinum plus trophies tied to the base game and both expansions.
• Install mods only after the trophy run. Begin a new modded playthrough or reserve a clearly separate set of save slots for it.
• Inspect every load screen. Treat the cog icon as a hard warning that the save is for modded gameplay, not trophy cleanup.

Players who already started with mods should preserve that save for modded play and begin a new unmodded run for unfinished trophies. Existing trophies remain on the account.
