Disney Dreamlight Valley
Explore a world filled with the magic of Disney as you discover rich stories and build the perfect neighbourhood alongside Disney and Pixar Heroes and Villains…
After dozens of hours playing Disney Dreamlight Valley, nothing frustrated me more than running out of sugarcane right before crafting a key recipe or finishing a quest. Hunting it down felt tedious, until I learned how to efficiently farm and stockpile sugarcane through both Goofy’s Stand and the WALL-E garden. This guide is packed with what I wish I’d known earlier, including personal mistakes, time-savers, and tips for all player types.
Early on, I wasted coins buying sugarcane outright. Here are the options you’ll run into, and how to choose the best one for your situation:
Pro-tip: The fastest reliable way? Buy a few seeds at Goofy’s Beach Stand, plant them yourself, AND start progressing the WALL-E friendship quest as soon as possible. You’ll thank yourself later.
I got stuck here too long – you must unlock Dazzle Beach (costs Dreamlight) to access sugarcane at all. As soon as you open up the beach biome, head straight to Goofy’s Stand.
Don’t make my mistake of overlooking rain: if it’s raining, seeds water themselves. Don’t waste time with the watering can.

This is the real breakthrough. The garden not only provides a free, renewable crop source (sometimes sugarcane, sometimes others), but becomes your best passive supply. Here’s exactly how I did it:
Watch out: Finding enough soil and softwood can be a grind. I recommend digging near trees on the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow, then crafting everything before handing items to WALL-E.
Once the garden is built, it starts tiny (just three plants per day!). I used to ignore upgrades, not realizing how easy and impactful they are. Trust me: upgrade early, if you can afford the coins. Each upgrade increases plant capacity (and thus sugarcane yield).

Don’t make my mistake: Waiting to upgrade the garden means you’ll be forever short on high-demand crops like sugarcane, tomatoes, and carrots. Prioritize early garden upgrades over cosmetic purchases if you like to cook or craft a lot.
I hesitated dropping 161,500 coins for all nine upgrades, but the consistent supply more than pays off once you start batch-crafting or doing quests requiring specialty crops (including sugarcane for desserts and other energy foods).
Sugarcane grows fast – just 7 minutes from plant to harvest. Early-game, I would spam plant a row, do a quick round of other chores, then swing back for the harvest.
I wasted energy at first by forgetting to eat or by not planning my gardening route efficiently. My best system: plant plots near your home or main path, do “laps” through your farm while talking to villagers or foraging, and always collect with your gardening companion.

Troubleshooting early shortages: If you can’t find soil, dig up bare patches in Peaceful Meadow and the Plaza. Out of fiber? Fish for seaweed (try casting your rod away from bubbling fishing spots at the beach) and craft in bulk. It took me a couple hours before learning how much this sped up garden quests.
If you follow this guide-unlock the beach early, stockpile seeds, rush WALL-E’s garden, and prioritize upgrades—you’ll rarely run out of sugarcane again. Expect about 20 minutes to fully set up initial farming routines, and a day or two to grind the coins for major garden upgrades if you’re efficient with quests and crop sales.
It took me a few missteps and a lot of wasted time to get sugarcane farming down to a science, but now it’s a background task that powers my entire Valley. Good luck, and don’t be afraid to experiment with farm layouts—or to invest in that next garden upgrade sooner than you think you need it!
