Mesa is the best first pick for most early and returning players in Warframe: The Old Peace. She clears ordinary missions quickly, stays safe from ranged fire through Shatter Shield, and turns Peacemaker into a reliable answer for crowded Defense waves, Fissures, and Exterminate targets. Pick Chroma first only when personal durability and weapon-focused play matter more than clear speed. Leave Equinox until later unless you specifically want a demanding Day/Night kit and are prepared for a harder farm plus more mod planning.
The resource trap is investing Endo, Credits, and Forma into a frame whose job does not match the missions you want to run. Early progression rewards three things: clearing enemies fast enough to keep mission timers moving, surviving without repeated revives, and getting useful results before a build has become expensive. Mesa, Chroma, and Equinox all cover part of that package, but they reach it very differently.
