Before You Start: How This Walkthrough Is Structured
After a couple of full runs of Welcome to Doll Town (my first blind run was just over 90 minutes), I realized most of my wasted time came from wandering in circles and missing tiny interactables. This guide is written to stop that from happening to you.
I’ll walk you through the entire main story in order, focusing on:
Exactly where to go from each major landmark
Where key items are (100 yen, LEGO piece, Janitor’s Pass, etc.)
The keypad code for Hanabari Manor (58008) and how to use it
How to handle Mrs. Hanabari’s boss fight with basic fists-only combat
Solutions and routes for the school breaker puzzle and every flashback
If you follow this closely, you can comfortably clear the game in a single sitting. I’ll also point out the spots where I personally got stuck or backtracked so you can avoid the same mistakes.
Opening: Finding the Convenience Store and Your First Flashback
You start at the bus stop on the edge of Ningyomachi. Don’t overthink it here; the town is small but easy to get turned around in on your first run.
Reaching the Convenience Store
From the bus, immediately turn around so the bus is at your back and walk in the opposite direction down the street. Keep going straight and you’ll quickly come across a strange NPC called Frangin.
Once you talk to Frangin, she automatically escorts you to the convenience store. On my first playthrough I tried to explore before talking to her and just wasted time, so don’t bother; let the game fast-track you here.
Getting Inside the Convenience Store
The front door is locked, and the key is very easy to miss:
Stand facing the store entrance.
Look to the left side of the building where the vending machines are lined up.
Inspect the floor underneath the machines – the keys are hidden there.
Pick up the keys, unlock the front door, then step inside. It’ll be dark at first.
Your next goal is to power the lights by using the cash register at the counter. The path is slightly blocked by a doll in the aisle:
Walk around to the very last row of snacks/shelves.
Circle around that final row to slip past the doll blocking your direct path.
Approach the register and interact with it to turn on the store lights and open the back room.
This is where I first realized the game loves tight paths around objects; if you feel “stuck”, try circling shelves and dolls instead of assuming the route is blocked.
Back Room, First Fight, and Freezer Flashback
With the power on, head through the back room door in the store.
In the back area, a hostile doll will attack you. Use basic hand-to-hand combat: hold block (for me, right mouse / gamepad left trigger) to absorb its first combo, then answer with a few punches.
Once it’s down, grab the crowbar in the room.
Use the crowbar or interact prompt on the freezer in the back.
Interacting with the freezer triggers the first flashback sequence.
You now control Tsumugi. The objectives are simple but the game doesn’t spell them out very clearly:
Find Mio: Move left along the screen – you’ll catch her almost immediately.
After the cutscene, find a hiding spot: move right until you reach a building with another freezer you can use as a hiding place, near a vending machine.
Once Tsumugi hides in the freezer, more story plays out and you’re taken back to the “present.”
100 Yen, LEGO Piece, and Entering Hanabari Manor (Code 58008)
After leaving the store, you’re technically free to roam, but if you follow a clean route you’ll save a lot of wandering.

Meeting Frangin at the School
From the convenience store front door:
Walk straight ahead to the road.
At the road, take the first right turn.
Keep going straight until you reach Frangin standing outside the school.
Talk to Frangin here. When I skipped this talk in one run, I felt “off route,” so I recommend doing it now to keep the narrative and objectives in a sensible order.
Getting the 100 Yen and LEGO Piece
Now head back towards the convenience store. This is where one of the easiest-to-miss items is.
Stand in front of the store again, facing the road.
Cross to the opposite side of the street from the store entrance.
You’ll find a beggar-like doll holding a 100 yen coin. Interact to take the coin.
With the coin in hand, go back to the store building itself, but this time focus on the right side of the building (if you’re facing the entrance).
On the right-hand wall, you’ll see a Gashapon (capsule) machine.
Use the 100 yen coin on the machine.
You’ll receive a LEGO-like piece, which acts as a missing button for a keypad.
This LEGO piece is mandatory to proceed; I spent way too long wondering how to reach the manor before I realized this little machine was even interactable.
Finding Hanabari Manor and Using Code 58008
From the convenience store:
Turn right and follow the street.
Take another right at the next turn.
At the end of that street, turn left.
You’ll reach the gated entrance of Hanabari Manor.
At the keypad by the gate:
Use the LEGO piece to replace the missing keypad button.
Enter the code 58008.
The manor gate unlocks and you can head inside.
I actually guessed a few codes before finding the real one on my first run; don’t bother brute forcing – just use 58008 once you’ve slotted in the LEGO piece.
Inside Hanabari Manor: Mrs. Hanabari Boss Fight and Graveyard Flashback
Exploring the Manor and Getting the Key
Once you’re in the manor:
Go straight through the entrance hall into the second room.
A hostile doll attacks you here – block its first string of hits, then respond with your punches until it drops.
The doll drops a key; grab it.
Backtrack to the locked door inside the manor and use the key.
That locked door is the gate to your first major boss encounter: Mrs. Hanabari.
How to Beat Mrs. Hanabari
Mrs. Hanabari isn’t mechanically complicated, but she can shred you quickly if you get greedy. What finally worked for me was treating it like a pure patience check.

Block first: Her opening chain is predictable. Hold block through that first combo instead of panicking.
Counter with short strings: After she finishes a chain, step in and throw 2–3 punches, then immediately block again.
Stay close: I did better staying near her so I could read her windups rather than dancing at mid range.
Watch your stamina (if applicable): Don’t drain yourself by mashing; slow, deliberate hits are safer.
Once you deplete her health, a cutscene triggers, Frangin joins you, and you’re pulled into another flashback.
Graveyard Flashback – Finding Mio’s Grave
In this flashback, your goal is to locate Mio’s grave in the cemetery.
Head straight into the graveyard from the entrance.
Keep to the right side as you go.
Climb the first set of stairs you see on that right-hand side.
At the top, turn left and follow the path to the end – Mio’s grave is here.
After examining the grave, turn around and leave the cemetery via the same route you used to enter. A cutscene takes over, ending this flashback and returning you to the “present” with the story moving back to the school.
Entering the School and Solving the Power Breaker Puzzle
Once the graveyard sequence ends, you’re back at the school entrance area, this time with the Janitor’s Pass in your possession.
Using the Janitor’s Pass to Enter the School
From your starting position outside the school:
Turn right and walk along the side of the building.
Look for a sharp left turn that leads into the woods.
Follow this wooded path until you find a door.
Use the Janitor’s Pass to unlock it and step into the school interior.
Reaching the Main Power Supply
The layout here confused me on my first attempt, so here’s the route that consistently works:
From the entrance, go down the first visible set of stairs.
At the bottom, look behind you for another staircase and head back up.
Move straight through the room you enter and exit via the left-hand door.
In the hallway beyond, take the door on the right to reach the main power room.
Interact with the main power to reveal the breaker puzzle: you need to activate five breakers scattered around the nearby corridors.
All Five Breaker Locations
This is where I burned a lot of time wandering, so follow these exactly:
Breaker 1: Go back towards the school entrance. Next to the first set of stairs you used earlier, you’ll see a breaker on the wall. Flip it.
Breaker 2: From Breaker 1, go down the stairs again. As soon as you reach the bottom, turn around and walk along the base of the stairs without going back up. The second breaker is tucked right there.
Breaker 3: Proceed to the next room. As you descend a third set of stairs into that room, look to your right wall – the third breaker is visible as you go down.
Breaker 4: At the bottom of those stairs, move into the room and head to the far right corner. You won’t see this breaker until you’re right on top of it.
Breaker 5: Head back toward the main power room, but before entering, check the wall directly in front of its door – the last breaker is mounted there.
Once all five breakers are flipped, return to the main power supply and interact with it again to restore power to the school. This unlocks access to the main hall on the opposite side of the corridor from the power room.
Locker Room Memories, Classroom 2-B, and the Rooftop Sequence
Triggering the Locker Room Flashback
With power restored, head into the main hall. The first key room you reach here is the locker room.
Walk through the locker room and interact with three specific objects:
Mio’s locker: It’s in the last row of lockers.
The note: On the left side near Mio’s locker.
The doll: On the right side of that area.
After examining all three, a flashback triggers. In this sequence, you simply move right to follow the story; there’s no puzzle to solve. When it ends, you’re back in the present and can now use the school stairs to go higher.
Talking to Frangin and Entering Classroom 2-B
From the main stairwell:
Go up to the third floor and speak with Frangin.
When you’re done, head back down to the second floor.
Look for Classroom 2-B and enter it.
Inside Classroom 2-B, you need to trigger another flashback by interacting with three things:
The blackboard at the front of the room
The award placed on the left side of the board
The group of dolls within the classroom
This starts a new flashback where you control Mio.
Locker Room Again, Mio’s Bag, and Returning to the Classroom
In Mio’s flashback, you’re back in the locker room and must find Mio’s bag.
Check the trash/garbage next to the vending machine in the locker room.
Interact to retrieve Mio’s bag.
Then take the stairs to the first floor and head for Mio’s classroom.
Once you reach the classroom, a series of cutscenes plays. When these end, you’re back playing as Tsumugi.
Screenshot from Welcome to Doll Town
Carrying Tsumugi’s Body and Escaping the School
As Tsumugi, you’ll be in a hallway again.
Head toward the stairwell using the door at the end of the hallway.
Go up the stairs to trigger another cutscene, which shifts you back to Mio.
As Mio, exit the rooftop via the door on the right side (you’ll have to loop around the second rooftop structure to reach it).
Go back down to the second floor and re-enter Classroom 2-B – Tsumugi’s body is inside.
Pick up the body, then go down the stairs to the ground floor.
Return to the locker room; on the opposite side of the lockers you’ll find an exit that lets you escape the school.
This whole section is mostly routing; if you remember “roof → second floor 2-B → ground floor locker room exit,” you’ll get through it smoothly.
Late-Game Flashbacks: Tsumugi, Mio’s Cat, and Leaving the Manor
Hiding from Tsumugi and the Freezer
The next flashback puts you in control of Mio again, this time needing to follow Tsumugi while staying hidden.
Trail Tsumugi but use cover and terrain to keep out of direct sight.
At the end of this segment, interact with the freezer in the room.
Leave the room afterward to conclude this flashback.
Playing as Mio’s Cat – Lever and Escape Route
Now you’re controlling Mio’s cat, and the goal is simple: escape. The route is more maze-like than difficult, so here’s the clean path I settled on after a couple of confused loops.
In the starting room, pull the lever to unlock the first door.
Follow the only available path, keeping to the left side.
You’ll see some stairs on the way – ignore them at first and continue forward.
At the end, turn right to find another lever and use it.
Now backtrack to those previously ignored stairs and go down.
The door that blocked you before should now be open; go through and follow the corridor.
You’ll find another staircase on your right – go down again and enter the room on your left.
Inside this room:
Jump onto the shelf to reach a small opening and crawl through to the next room.
In the next room, jump onto the piano to draw the attention of the students.
Once the scene plays out, leave both rooms using the path you came in by.
Follow the hallway in front of the stairs and use the exit at the end to escape the manor.
Continue along the road until you see a police car; get close, then turn right when prompted.
Doing this correctly will trigger another cutscene that ends the cat sequence.
Final Flashback as Reina and Ending the Game
The last playable section puts you in control of Reina.
As soon as you gain control, walk left to trigger a cutscene.
You’ll be given a dialogue choice – pick whichever line you prefer; it doesn’t block you from finishing the game.
After this, another cutscene plays and you’ll wake up back in Ningyomachi, but the atmosphere is noticeably different.
To reach the ending:
Exit the bus once again.
Walk in the opposite direction from the bus (just like at the very start).
Find Frangin and talk to her one last time.
After this conversation, the final scenes play out and the game ends.
Wrap-Up: What to Expect on a Clean Run
Once I understood the routes and puzzle logic, a full run of Welcome to Doll Town took me well under an hour. The biggest time-sinks were:
Missing the keys under the vending machines at the convenience store
Not noticing the beggar doll holding 100 yen across from the store
Wandering around the school looking for the second and fourth breakers
Backtracking the manor and school because I forgot which stairwell or floor had the next flashback trigger
If you stay methodical, let Frangin guide the broad story beats, and remember the key code 58008 plus the breaker locations, you’ll turn what can be a confusing first experience into a tightly paced horror story that fits neatly into a single evening.
And if you ever feel lost, retrace from known anchors – the convenience store, manor entrance, school stairwell – and use this guide’s directions from there. If I could go from aimlessly roaming Ningyomachi to a smooth, almost speedrun-like route, you absolutely can too.
