Resident Evil Requiem: How to Find All BSAA Containers – Trophy Guide

FinalBoss·3/3/2026·10 min read

Why BSAA Containers Matter (and Why They’re Easy to Miss)

After spending a few hours wandering around East Raccoon City in Resident Evil Requiem, I hit that familiar wall: my ammo was low, my meds were gone, and the Crate Expectations trophy stubbornly refused to pop. I’d walked past at least two BSAA containers already without being able to open them, and I wrongly assumed they were just background props.

The breakthrough came when I realized two things:

  • You get a specific BSAA Container Key via story progression (not from exploring off the beaten path).
  • Only a small set of BSAA containers actually count toward the Crate Expectations trophy/challenge.

This guide walks you through, step by step, how to get the key, where each container is, what’s inside, and how it all ties into the Crate Expectations trophy. I’ll also touch on the conflicting info about a possible “fourth” container near Ridgewood Station and the so‑called Legendary Tracking Module, so you know what to expect in your own run.

How BSAA Containers and Crate Expectations Work

In Requiem, BSAA containers are big blue crates with numbered markings and BSAA logos. They show up during Leon’s Raccoon City section and are effectively mini treasure rooms.

  • Key requirement: Most containers are locked and can only be opened with the BSAA Container Key (lockpicks and melee weapons don’t work).
  • Trophy/achievement: The Crate Expectations trophy/achievement is tied to opening all BSAA containers that the game tracks for that challenge.
  • Missable? They’re easy to walk past, but you can backtrack around East Raccoon City after getting the key, so you don’t need to panic if you left one behind.
  • Leon-only: These containers are in Leon’s route through East Raccoon City; other characters won’t interact with them.

Different guides disagree on how many containers there are. In my own playthrough (PC, launch patch), there were three locked BSAA containers in East Raccoon City plus one already-open container when you first get the key. Those three locked ones were all I needed for Crate Expectations to unlock. I’ll cover all of them below and then explain the Ridgewood Station confusion at the end.

How to Get the BSAA Container Key

Don’t waste time trying to pry open BSAA containers before the story actually gives you the key. The game is pretty strict about the timing here.

  • Scenario: Leon in East Raccoon City, during the Cedarbrook Apartments sequence.
  • Rough timing: About 1-2 hours into the city section, depending on how much you explore.

Here’s the exact flow that leads to the BSAA Container Key:

  • Work your way through Cedarbrook Apartments until you reach the underground parking garage section.
  • You’ll need to find and insert two batteries to power the gate:
    • One through a vent from the office area.
    • One in the Sewage Facility section.
  • After inserting both batteries and opening the garage gate, continue forward and exit the complex.
  • A cutscene will play showing the fate of the BSAA team investigating ARK.
  • During this cutscene, Leon searches a fallen agent and automatically obtains the BSAA Container Key.

You can’t miss this key if you’re following the main story; it’s unmissable. As soon as the cutscene ends, you’re standing right next to your first BSAA container.

BSAA Container 1 – Cedarbrook Apartments Exit (Med Injector & Intel)

This is the first container you’ll open and the easiest to overlook because it’s practically handed to you during the cutscene.

  • Location: Immediately outside the Cedarbrook Apartments exit in East Raccoon City, beside the pile of fallen BSAA soldiers.
  • When: Right after you receive the BSAA Container Key via cutscene.

Turn around from where Leon ends up after the cutscene and you’ll see the blue BSAA container already sitting there. In my run, this one was already open, acting more like a tutorial crate than a locked collectible. Still, don’t ignore it.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • A Med Injector (very handy for the upcoming fights).
  • A file that lists the contents and intended recipients of other BSAA containers in the area.
  • Some miscellaneous supplies (ammo/consumables, depending on difficulty).

From a trophy perspective, this Cedarbrook container is tied to the same key and story beat, but the game seems to focus Crate Expectations on the numbered, locked containers you open afterward. Regardless of how your challenge tracker counts it, grab the loot here-this is effectively your primer on how BSAA containers work.

BSAA Container 2 – Central Camp (Repair Kit & Motorcycle)

The second major container is at the heart of East Raccoon City and is actually required for story progression, which makes it very hard to miss-but easy to forget to loot thoroughly if you rush.

  • Location: Central Camp, to the right of the big main tent and safe room area.
  • Appearance: Blue BSAA container, usually labeled as Container #02 in-world.

When you first arrive at Central Camp, the container is locked, and you won’t have the key yet if you’re coming here early. Just note its position on your map and move on with the main objectives.

Once you’ve been through Cedarbrook, obtained the BSAA Container Key, and loop back to Central Camp, do this:

  • Approach the container and interact with the lock using the BSAA Container Key.
  • Open it up and head inside.

Inside, you’ll find two critical things:

  • A Repair Kit used in the story to fix key equipment (it’s tied into your explosives/signal receiver progress).
  • A motorcycle that Leon will use in a cutscene to travel toward Central Raccoon City.

Because this container is part of the main path, you don’t have to worry about missing it permanently, but don’t make my mistake of opening it and immediately triggering the bike scene without looting the smaller crates and shelves inside first. Quickly sweep the area before you initiate any obvious story prompts.

BSAA Container 3 – Underpass Near the Gas Station (Marksman 1A Rifle)

This is the container I almost missed completely, and it’s also where Crate Expectations unlocked for me. It’s tucked into the eastern road network, not far from where you find fuel for generators.

  • Location: The underpass area east of the Gas Station, along the main road leading back toward Cedarbrook Apartments.
  • Landmarks: Wrecked vehicles forming a partial blockade, and a construction-style truck you can climb.

Here’s how to reach it:

  • From the Gas Station, follow the main road east toward the underpass.
  • When you see a wrecked truck and debris forming a ramp, climb up the debris.
  • Cross over the top of the wreckage toward the BSAA container you can see below.
  • Drop down directly in front of the container doors.

When you unlock and open this one, be ready-there are zombies waiting inside. In my run, they rushed immediately once the doors slid open.

  • Back up as soon as the doors open and funnel enemies through the doorway.
  • A shotgun or a quick flash grenade followed by headshots works well here.
  • Once they’re down, head into the container and interact with the large crate at the back.

Inside that inner crate you’ll find the real prize: the Marksman 1A semi-automatic sniper rifle plus some Rifle Bullets. On higher difficulties this weapon is a massive power spike—great for popping heads from a safe distance and dealing with tougher mutations later on.

After I looted this container, my Crate Expectations trophy/achievement unlocked, and the associated in-game challenge updated, confirming that all tracked BSAA containers in East Raccoon City were done.

The Ridgewood Station/Applegate “Fourth Container” Debate

Here’s where things get a bit messy. Some early guides (including the one this brief is based on) describe a fourth BSAA container near Ridgewood Station, by the Café Oasis and Applegate Hotel, supposedly containing a BSAA Emblem charm for sniper rifles and a high-value item often referred to as a Legendary Tracking Module.

In my own playthrough, the situation was different:

  • By the time I reached the Ridgewood Station area and surfaced near Applegate, my Crate Expectations trophy had already unlocked from the three East Raccoon City containers.
  • There were combat encounters and lootable crates near a wrecked bus, but nothing that changed my BSAA container challenge progress.
  • I did not see an item literally named “Legendary Tracking Module” in my inventory screen; instead, I got generic high-value sellables.

Because of this, I’d treat the Ridgewood/Applegate area as a bonus loot zone rather than a required BSAA container for Crate Expectations, at least on current patches. Still, it’s worth checking the street around the wrecked bus when you emerge from Ridgewood Station—there are strong zombies there (including spear users and a possible Blister Head mutation), and you can pick up valuable treasure that effectively serves the same purpose as a tracking module: a big chunk of credits/CP once you cash it in.

If your version of the game does show a numbered BSAA container there that uses the BSAA Container Key, open it exactly like the others and loot everything inside. Just be aware that guides disagree about whether this counts toward the trophy, and in my case, the trophy was already done by this point.

Common Mistakes and Time-Saving Tips

Having run back and forth across East Raccoon City more than I’d like to admit, here are the pitfalls to avoid and a few tricks to make the BSAA container hunt smoother:

  • Don’t farm containers before Cedarbrook: You can see at least one BSAA container from Central Camp early on, but you cannot open it without the key. Push the story through Cedarbrook Apartments first.
  • Mark container spots on your map: Whenever you see a blue BSAA container you can’t open yet, drop a custom marker via Map → Place Marker so you remember to double back after getting the key.
  • Clear enemies before looting: Especially at the underpass container, clear nearby zombies before you interact with the doors so you aren’t surrounded when the interior mob spawns.
  • Loot Central Camp’s container before triggering the bike: I almost missed ammo and healing items inside because I sprinted straight to the motorcycle. Walk the whole container interior first.
  • Sniper ammo management: Once you pick up the Marksman 1A, reserve rifle bullets for tough enemies and long sightlines. It’s tempting to use it on everything, but conserving ammo pays off later.
  • Check your Challenges menu: After opening each container, open Menu → Challenges and confirm that Crate Expectations is progressing. This is the safest way to know if your game is tracking three or more crates.

What You Get for Finishing Crate Expectations

Once you’ve opened all tracked BSAA containers in East Raccoon City (for me, that was the Central Camp and underpass containers plus the initial Cedarbrook one), you’ll see the Crate Expectations trophy/achievement pop up.

On top of that:

  • The Crate Expectations challenge in your Challenges menu will update to “Complete,” letting you redeem it for CP or credits (depending on your version’s terminology).
  • You’ll be kitted out with:
    • A strong healing item early (Med Injector).
    • A critical Repair Kit and a motorcycle for progression.
    • The Marksman 1A sniper rifle, which remains useful for a huge chunk of the game.
    • Plus any high-value treasure you picked up in the Ridgewood/Applegate area.

If you methodically follow the order in this guide—Cedarbrook exit, Central Camp, then the underpass near the Gas Station—you’ll minimize backtracking and have your trophy, your rifle, and your bike ready without wasting time wandering aimlessly around Raccoon City.

Once that’s done, you can focus on the rest of Leon’s route knowing you’ve squeezed every last drop of value out of the BSAA’s ill-fated return to the city.
