Petal Archipelago looks relaxed on the overworld, but it’s one of the easiest worlds to leave at 96-98% because so many purple coins and Wonder Seeds are tucked behind invisible blocks, hidden pipes, and badge-specific routes. I had to rerun several stages two or three times before I finally locked in every collectible. This guide walks through how I now clear the Archipelago in one clean sweep, including which badge or power-up I actually use in each level.
General prep before you start rerunning this world:
This was the first level where I thought I had everything, only to notice I was missing a single coin. The trick is the hidden ?-blocks and the secret overhead pipe.
First purple coin: Progress until you see a burrowing mole (Soterraballo) patrolling over bricks with a purple coin trapped underneath. Stand to bait its charge, then step aside so it slams into the bricks from above and breaks them. Drop down and grab the coin.
Second purple coin (secret pipe): Keep moving right until you reach three ceiling pipes with spiked eel-like enemies popping out of the left and right ones. The middle pipe looks empty – that’s the secret. Jump up into that center pipe to reach a hidden room and collect the second coin.
Third purple coin (vine room): A bit later there’s a suspicious gap with no blocks. Jump and punch around the center to reveal an invisible ?-block that spawns a purple vine. Climb down the vine into another secret chamber where the third coin is waiting.
Wonder Seeds: Continue to the right until you find another invisible ?-block that spawns the Wonder Flower. Activate it and follow the newly appeared giant burrow-mole through the chaos until you’re directed to the first Wonder Seed. Finish the level normally for the second Seed at the goal pole.
This stage is where I finally accepted I needed the Dolphin Boost badge. Without it, I kept getting pushed away from key routes and missing entire secret rooms.
First purple coin (red pipe in current): Shortly after starting, you’ll see the first red pipe underwater facing against the current. Dive down and mash your Dolphin Boost to fight the flow and slip inside. In the side room, swim to the coin.
Second purple coin (sealed red pipe): Before you jump onto the platform with the checkpoint, look under it to the left: a red pipe is blocked by bricks. Drop into the water and use your Boost to slam into the bricks or just land a solid hit to break them. Enter the pipe, then quickly touch all the golden flowers in the room. When you’ve hit them all, the second purple coin appears.
Wonder Flower: Back in the main route, you’ll ride a platform that drops onto a golden flower. Step on each golden flower as you go; after a short sequence, the Wonder Flower spawns. Grab it and ride the currents through the Wonder event until you claim the first Wonder Seed.
Third purple coin: After the Wonder sequence ends and things calm down, keep moving right – the third coin is in plain view in the water. Don’t overthink this one.
Second Wonder Seed: Just before the final green exit pipe, swim straight up instead of heading right. There’s a hidden vertical shaft leading to the Seed. Then exit the pipe and grab the flag for completion credit.
The first time I did this stage I ignored the Blowhards and just brute-jumped everything, which is exactly how you miss coins. Here, you want to let their wind carry you.
First purple coin: Early on, you’ll see a Blowhard shooting air to the left, creating an invisible platform. Ride this wind stream upwards through the gap to reach the first coin floating above.
Second purple coin (vine to secret room): Near the end of this section there’s a yellow pipe that looks like the obvious exit. Before entering, stand on top of one of the nearby Blowhards and jump straight up. You’ll hit an invisible ?-block that spawns a vine. Climb it to a secret area with the second coin.
Third purple coin (bubble shot): Continue until you spot a golden flower wedged in a tiny alcove in the wall. Normal jumps won’t reach it cleanly; equip or grab the Bubble power-up and fire a bubble into the recess to hit the flower remotely. The third purple coin pops out.
Wonder Seeds: A little later, right before another yellow pipe, you’ll see a narrow beam of light emerging from the floor. Ground-pound that spot to reveal the Wonder Flower. Trigger it, then float up on soap bubbles through the Wonder sequence to the first Wonder Seed. Finishing the stage yields the second Seed.
This is another level where Dolphin Boost completely changes what’s reachable. I tried doing it without and constantly got pushed off the intended lines.

First purple coin: Early on, you’ll see a depression in the ground with two Paratroopas flapping and a golden flower between them. Pop the Koopa shells or stomp them, then hit the golden flower to spawn the first coin nearby.
Second purple coin (upstream to the left): Keep going right until you see the second purple coin in the water below you. Drop in, then push left against the current using Dolphin Boost to reach it.
Third purple coin (hidden green pipe): Further ahead, two cloud-generators summon giant waterfalls down from the sky. Ride the second waterfall upwards while hugging the right wall. There’s a green pipe embedded there that you can enter when the water lifts you high enough. Inside this secret area is the third coin.
Wonder Seeds: Back outside, continue until you see the Wonder Flower partially hidden behind a cloud up in the sky. Hit it, ride out the Wonder event for the first Wonder Seed, and then finish the stage to claim the second.
This is the first Petal Archipelago stage where the Drill power-up feels like the intended solution. I wasted time trying to line up enemies before finally just drilling through the ceiling.
First purple coin (inside a gem): Right at the start, you’ll see a purple coin frozen inside a crystal. Either let the patrolling enemy fall onto it to break the gem, or use Drill from above/below to smash it and free the coin.
Second purple coin (center-brick vine): Move right to a wide pit with a bright beam of light coming from below. There’s an enemy trapped under a horizontal row of bricks. Lure or time it so the enemy leaps and hits the middle bricks from below, breaking them and revealing a vine. Climb into the secret area for the second coin.
Wonder Flower and first Seed: A bit further on, you’ll see the Wonder Flower encased in another gem. Break the crystal, touch the Flower, and follow the sequence of breaking blocks downward until you reach the first Wonder Seed. Exit via the green pipe to return to the main route.
Third purple coin (ceiling crawl): As soon as you pop out of that pipe, look right: the third purple coin is visible, tucked in by a low ceiling. Use the Drill form to burrow into the ceiling and slide along until you can drop through the small opening to grab it. Then finish the level for the second Wonder Seed.
This is the stage with Ñac-Ñacs (Maw-Maws) that erase entire rows of colored blocks. The main mistake here is killing them too early; let them chomp.
First purple coin: Early in the level, Maw-Maws start devouring one of the first colored block rows you pass. When they finish a specific row, the first purple coin appears in the gap they’ve created. Don’t rush past or you’ll miss when it spawns.
Second purple coin (flying plant secret): Right next to where you pick up the first coin is a normal breakable block. Smash it to release a flying plant you can grab onto. Ride it up into a secret area where you must defeat five enemies. Clear them all and the second purple coin appears.

Third purple coin & Wonder Flower: Back on the main path, continue right until you see the third purple coin in plain sight. A little further, there’s a ?-block with an unusual shimmer. Break it and the Wonder Flower pops out. Trigger the Wonder event to reach the first Wonder Seed, then finish the level for the second.
This stealthy level with the Goomba transformation is easy to overcomplicate. I missed the final coin twice just because I didn’t check the platform to the left after the stealth section.
First purple coin: Move right until you see a Digaah (large enemy that opens its mouth). Time a jump so you land on its head as it opens, bouncing high enough to reach the first coin floating above.
Wonder Flower & second purple coin: After the checkpoint, drop to the moving platform under it and ride down. You’ll find a pull-handle. Yank it to spawn the Wonder Flower that turns you into a Goomba. In Goomba form, walk cautiously to the right through the stealth segment; the second purple coin is on the main path and easy to grab as long as the guards don’t spot you. Finishing the stealth sequence brings you to the first Wonder Seed.
Third purple coin (post-stealth pipe): Once you’re back to normal, look left from where you got the previous coin. There’s a platform with a pipe slightly out of sight. Jump up, enter the pipe, and you’re taken to a secret room with the third purple coin. Grab it and then clear the level for the final Seed.
This foreground/background level is where the Parachute Cap badge shines. Without it, my early attempts to reach the back-plane coin ended in bottomless pits.
First purple coin (back plane glide): When you move onto the far background layer, you’ll spot the first coin hovering out over nothing. Climb onto the ledge to the right, run left, then jump and deploy Parachute Cap at the peak to glide safely into the coin.
Second purple coin (star rush left): A bit further, you’ll reach an area with multiple POW blocks stacked horizontally. Break the normal block directly to the right of the last POW. A red pipe drops from the ceiling. Enter it. In the new area, move toward the foreground (closest plane to the camera) and hit the golden flower to spawn a Starman. Grab it and sprint full speed to the left – the second coin sits at the far end before the invincibility wears off.
Wonder Flower & first Seed: Back in the main stage, continue until you see the talking flower glowing unusually. Hit the ?-block just to its right to spawn another Starman, then quickly grab it and reach the flower. Ground-pound it to reveal the Wonder Flower, then ride out the sequence to the first Wonder Seed.
Third purple coin (hidden under plants): Near the end, before you touch the goal pole, pick up the POW block and drop down to the lower left where several piranha plants are blocking a recess. Use the POW to clear them, revealing a hidden nook with the third purple coin. Then finish the stage for the second Seed.
This challenge is a pure swimming test. I struggled at first because I tried to “position” myself; what works is committing to a fast line and trusting Dolphin Boost.
Three purple coins & Wonder Seed: As soon as you start, the three purple coins begin moving through the stage. Your job is to chase them, chain Dolphin Boosts, and snag each one as you follow their trail. There are no hidden detours here – just keep up. Collecting all three and finishing the course rewards a single Wonder Seed.
This follow-up challenge is much simpler: the coins are static and visible.
Three purple coins & Wonder Seed: Swim through the course, grabbing each clearly visible purple coin as you go. Maintain speed with Dolphin Boost to make the timers comfortable. Clear the stage to earn its Wonder Seed.
One of the Petal Archipelago challenges is almost a breather level compared to the others.
Three purple coins & Wonder Seed: All three coins are in plain sight on the main route with no tricks, invisible blocks, or badge requirements. Simply collect them on your way to the exit to receive the Wonder Seed.
Both Floruga races play similarly: outrun the caterpillar-like rival to the flag. I lost a couple of attempts just by misjudging jumps, not speed.

First race: Focus on keeping forward momentum: short hops instead of full jumps, and avoid backtracking for coins (there are no purple coins here to worry about). Reach the goal before Floruga to win the Wonder Seed.
Second race: Same idea, slightly tighter layout. Again, there are no missable collectibles; your only objective is crossing the line first to claim another Seed.
This stage ties together clouds, POW blocks, and long-range enemies. The last coin is the one I missed twice until I realized I needed the sniper’s shot to clear the crates.
First purple coin: Ride the moving clouds to the right until you see the first purple coin floating in mid-air. Hop over from your cloud to grab it.
Second purple coin (green pipe among white): A little further, several white pipes hang from the ceiling spraying clouds. One of them is colored green. Enter that green pipe to access a secret room where the second purple coin is waiting.
Wonder Flower access with POW: Back outside, you’ll find a pipe that spits out endless POW blocks. Grab one, ride a cloud to the right, and look for a stack of wooden crates. Toss or drop the POW onto them to blow them up, revealing the Wonder Flower.
Third purple coin (sniper assist): After activating the Wonder Flower, ride a cloud to the upper-right section of the stage. The third coin is high up, surrounded by crates. Lure the sniper-type enemy so it fires at the crates; its shot will destroy them, opening a path to the coin. Then continue to the end for the stage’s Wonder Seed.
The Petal Coliseum is a timed combat trial with three hidden time thresholds tied to the purple coins. I only discovered the fastest tier after several runs shaving seconds off my route.
Finish-time breakpoints:
Use big area hits (Elephant swings or Fireballs) to wipe groups quickly. Learn which waves you can ignore until they bunch up. Once you’ve earned all three coins on a single fast run, you’ll also walk away with the Wonder Seed for the coliseum.
The rocket stage is where I kept accidentally entering the red pipe too early, skipping the second coin. The rule here is: if you see rockets, ride them further than you think.
First purple coin (golden flower over a ravine): Early in the stage, reach the first large bottomless gap. Several rockets fly upward. Ride the highest rocket and use it to reach a golden flower hovering above the chasm. Hit the flower and the first purple coin appears.
Second purple coin (beyond the first red pipe): Shortly after, you’ll see the first red pipe on a safe platform. Ignore it for now. Instead, leap from rocket to rocket to the right. At the far end of this mini-gauntlet you’ll find the second purple coin.
Once you’ve grabbed it, backtrack to the red pipe and enter it.
Third purple coin (long rocket ride): In the next section, you’ll approach another huge ravine. Again, board the highest rocket and stay on it as long as possible. It will carry you directly into the third purple coin mid-air.
Wonder Flower & Wonder Seeds: Not long after that third coin, you’ll reach the Wonder Flower. Activate it and continue bouncing across rockets, hitting golden flowers along the way, until the Wonder sequence ends at the first Wonder Seed. Exit the event, finish the level, and you’ll secure the second Seed at the flag.
