Horizon Forbidden West
My game of the year on PS5 is the sequel to my favourite PS4 game, Horizon Zero Dawn. So, let’s start this list with it.
Horizon Forbidden West is an open-world Action-RPG developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony.
It is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, released on PlayStation in 2017.
The game follows Aloy, a hunter-gatherer living in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by robotic creatures known as Machines. Six months separate the events of the first opus and those of Forbidden West. A time that the heroine has used to try to destroy Hades for good, a kind of big computer virus powerful enough to eradicate all life on earth
With lush landscapes filled with savage machines and mysterious ruins to discover, you’ll need to use all your available skills and resources to survive in this dangerous world.
You’ll also be able to craft powerful weapons from parts scavenged from the wild or looted from defeated enemies. Horizon Forbidden West offers players plenty of thrilling combat sequences and in-depth exploration mechanics.
The game takes advantage of the power of the PS5 to deliver astonishing graphics, letting players to become even more immersed in this open world, while enhanced combat mechanics offer more varied strategies for dealing with enemies.
Elden Ring
Elden Ring is an action RPG developed by FromSoftware. After four episodes of the Souls series and two spin-offs, the Japanese studio offers an ambitious sequel to the series that was first made known in open-world.
Elden Ring takes place in a fantasy world with elements of dark fantasy and Norse mythology. You are what is known as a Terni, and you must obtain the Ring of the Ancients, to become the new master of the Land Between, a region torn by the demigods’ lust for power.
Players must traverse various environments such as forests, desert ruins, dungeons and castles. Don’t think, however, that this will be a walk in the park. Fearsome enemies like dragons and giant monsters await you. True to the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring is a game that may put off the less experienced, as the difficulty is enough to make you throw your joystick in the air.
Unlike most open-world games, Elden Ring has no landmarks to guide the player through the exploration. You’ll have to rely on what you see in the landscape. A true adventure at the risk of your life.
Recently named Game of the Year, Elden Ring has to be earned and is not easily tamed. Good luck friends, after hours spent on this game, it cost me a joystick and a dozen nervous breakdowns.
God of War Ragnarök
God of War Ragnarok is the latest installment in the popular God of War series.
It follows Kratos and his son Atreus on their journey to fulfill a prophecy that will bring about Ragnarok, the end of all things.
The game takes place in the 9 worlds of Norse mythology, where gods, monsters and creatures of legend come to life. The story is captivating and full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. We won’t elaborate on the story so as to make sure your discovery is preserved.
The gameplay of God of War Ragnarök is fast and full of action, with intense battles against enemies sometimes small, but also very big, even very big.
You have weapons such as the Leviathan axes or the famous chaos blades, which you can upgrade throughout the adventure.
The game skillfully mixes exploration and combat, which have been improved since the previous installments of the series; you will also be able to rely on the special skills of Atreus.
God of War Ragnarök is an incredibly well-designed experience that combines intense action combat with thoughtful exploration elements for an unforgettable adventure.
The graphics are breathtakingly beautiful and help create an immersive atmosphere.
The realism of some scenes, especially the encounters with the gods, is epic and makes you feel like you’re really there with Kratos.

Gran Turismo 7
It took 9 years to see a new episode of the series

Gran Turismo 7 is available on PlayStation 4 and 5 since March 4th.
True to its predecessors, it brings a new level of realism and immersion to the franchise with its stunning photorealistic graphics.
The game features a wide selection of cars from over 60 manufacturers, ranging from classic models to modern supercars. As usual, players can customize their vehicles with various parts and upgrades.
In addition, players can compete against AI opponents or participate in multiplayer races.
Although the AI has been reworked, it remains in the Gran Turismo style, if you know what I mean.
Several modes are available such as Arcade, Driving school and the famous GT Campaign; several modes will be unlocked as you progress through the game.
Is Gran Turismo 7 worth your time? Absolutely! With its stunning graphics, vast selection of cars and tracks, and multiple game modes, there’s no doubt that Gran Turismo 7 will provide hours and hours of entertainment for fans old and new!
We regret, however, that PS4 PS5 cross-play is not available.
Stray
Stray is an adventure game exclusive to the Playstation 5. Developed by BlueTwelve Studio, Stray follows a cat in a cyberpunk inspired world, exploring and solving puzzles.
The game has been described as “a love letter to cats” and offers an immersive and unique experience that will draw players into its unique setting.
In Stray, you play as a stray cat who finds himself in a strange city populated by robots and other creatures. You must explore your surroundings, solve puzzles and uncover secrets while avoiding the danger posed by the robotic inhabitants of this world. As you progress through the story, you’ll get to know each other better and find out what happened to this once bustling city.
Stray’s graphics are particularly appealing, juggling lively city centers with more disturbing wastelands. Developers confess that they were largely inspired by the citadel of Kowloon, a former Chinese enclave in the middle of the Hong Kong colony – where Shenmue 2 takes place.
The soundtrack also adds to the atmosphere with its ambient electronic music that helps set the tone for each scene. In addition, there are many collectibles scattered throughout the levels that can be used to unlock new abilities or items for your characters, such as special weapons or stat upgrades like health or speed.
While the combat options are limited and the puzzles can get repetitive, Stray is undeniably a Playstation 5 staple, offering something different from most current games with its unique art style and emphasis on exploration rather than combat or action sequences.
If you’re looking for something different, Stray is the one to try.
A Plague Tale: Requiem
A Plague Tale: Requiem is an action-adventure game developed by Asobo Studio, released in October 2022.
The game follows two siblings – Amicia and Hugo de Rune – as they try to survive during the Hundred Years War in France. They must use their wits to outwit their enemies while avoiding swarms of rats carrying a deadly plague.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is an immersive experience thanks to a sublime art direction and an immersing soundtrack. The story is captivating and full of twists and turns that keep players on the edge of their seats until the end. The combat is intense but tactical; players must carefully plan every move if they want to succeed against their enemies or avoid being spotted by the guards patrolling the game’s various levels.
The puzzles scattered throughout A Plague Tale: Requiem are also cleverly designed; some require quick thinking, while others may take longer before you find the best way to solve them without alerting your enemies or getting caught by a swarm of rats!
A Plague Tale: Requiem offers an excellent experience thanks to a well-written storyline, and challenging gameplay mechanics. However, there are a few drawbacks, such as repetitive enemy encounters that can become annoying over time.
The French studio from Bordeaux delivers a game that is hard to pass up. Whether you are a fan of the first episode or a newcomer to the franchise, you can jump in with your eyes closed.
It’s been an exciting year for Playstation 5 players, with some of the best games ever released on the console.
