Everyone who stepped into the Lands Between knows exactly how hard it is to keep your cool there. And it doesn’t get any easier once you progress. That’s why this game offers a helpful aspect: Allowing you to join forces with your friends in a multiplayer world of Elden Ring.
Before we delve into the multiplayer aspects, it’s important to note that Elden Ring strongly emphasizes providing an unforgettable single-player journey. It’s a game where you can lose yourself in a meticulously crafted world filled with rich lore, challenging enemies, and breathtaking landscapes.
And, if you’re a fan of FromSoftware‘s previous titles, you’ll feel right at home with the intense combat, deep storytelling, and atmospheric exploration. However, what sets Elden Ring apart is its foray into the multiplayer territory. Therefore, you can enjoy this game in PvP or Co-Op mode.
How Does it Work?
Multiplayer, or PvP and Co-Op modes, allows you to summon other players into your game. This is done through summoning signs, similar to the Dark Souls series. However, in the Elden Ring, the Co-Op mode is available for 4 players, meaning you can summon 3 more players. These players can be your friends or total random players.
Great, but how does the summoning work?
Well, in order to complete a successful summoning, you will need to find the ‘’Furlcalling Finger Remedy’’ item. On the other hand, if you want to be summoned into other people’s games, you will need ‘’Tarnished’s Furled Finger’’.
Tarnished Furled Finger
This item will drop early in the game, sometimes even in the tutorial area. Once you pick it up, you will be able to activate it, and your character will place a golden summoning sign on the ground.
This will allow other players to call you into their world, where you will participate as a cooperator.
Furlcalling Finger Remedy
When it comes to summoning others, there’s a bit of a different approach. Namely, you need to purchase the Furlcalling Finger Remedy, as this is a consumable item. Another way to get your hands on this item is to craft it yourself.
However, you must buy the crafting kit from the weird-looking guy resembling Santa Claus. You will find this character at the Church of Ella. But, in order to craft a Furlcalling Finger Remedy, you will also need the Erdleaf Flower.
Once you acquire the summoning item, you can use it the same way as the Tarnished Furled Finger. However, this time, you will see other people’s summoning rings on the ground that are looking for a Co-Op experience.
But there’s a useful trick to know here.
You can set a multiplayer password if you want to summon only your friends. This also goes the other way; you can be summoned only by friends who share the same password as you.
Another important aspect of the summoning feature here is Martyr Effigies. They are usually found close to a boss fight. You can interact with these statues and see exactly who’s up for a Co-Op game.
Also, you can add yourself to the summoning pool here. However, you’ll need to find the item called ‘’Small Golden Effigy’’ to do so.
Restrictions
There are some restrictions regarding the Multiplayer mode in Elden Ring. Let’s list some:
- You can’t use mounts while you have Co-Ops present.
- Spirits won’t work in fights if your Co-Ops are backing you up.
- While exploring the lands in Elden Ring, you’ll eventually come across some Fog Walls. This means that you can’t go further as the part that lies ahead is restricted.
- When you defeat a boss, all your Co-Op players will return to their world immediately.
Conclusion
Elden Ring offers an immersive single-player experience, but with its inclusion of multiplayer modes, the game is even more fun when you can roam around with your friends. While the game’s primary focus is the PVE, the addition of multiplayer elements enhances the overall experience, fostering collaboration and expanding the game’s depth. Don’t hesitate to embrace new alliances and test your skills alongside other players in the world of multiplayer.
