Diablo IV
Shift the veil between Sanctuary and Hell in the all-new, chaos-fueled Infernal Hordes and their relentless Chaos Waves. Unleash deadly Chaos Perks and hunt do…
You picked a Paladin to feel powerful, and instead Holy Bolt feels like a pea-shooter and Purify looks like a control button you never want to press. The Holy Purifier build fixes both: it turns Holy Bolt into a chain-reaction trigger and Purify into a real damage tool. This is the area-clear setup you want for Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred in Season of Infernal Chaos, especially in Helltides, Infernal Hordes, The Pit, and the Cursed Undercity.
Season of Infernal Chaos (Season 10) rewards builds that turn enemy density into speed. Chaos Perks, Chaos Rifts, and the reworked Infernal Hordes all pay you for clearing packs fast and staying in motion. Holy Purifier is built for exactly that: Holy Bolt feeds constant pressure, Judgment marks the pack, and Purify’s Absolution detonation chains the kills together. You are not setting up for ten seconds before you do damage — the loop is live from the first Holy Bolt.
This is a Holy/Justice Paladin centered on the Judicator Oath. The action bar is Holy Bolt, Purify, Judgment, two auras, and your ultimate. A standard point spread looks like this:

Absolution is the mandatory major upgrade. For the rest, pick the modifiers that make packs explode more reliably rather than stacking control:
Your whole item plan should make Judgment touch more enemies and detonate harder. Prioritize this gear:

This is the set payoff. Heaven’s Radiant Fire spreads your Judgment mark automatically to nearby unmarked targets, and marking enemies grants the Judgment Day buff: +12.5% damage for 10 seconds, stacking up to five times initially. With the full 5-piece bonus, that buff scales all the way to 40 stacks. That stacking damage is a big part of why the build keeps accelerating the longer a fight stays dense.
On the Paragon side, run the Law, Sentencing, Beacon, and Endure boards. The Law glyph scales Judgment damage with Strength, Sentencing carries a Legendary node granting 90% more damage to judged enemies, and Beacon adds a 90% damage increase with a nearby ally or mercenary. For stats, prioritize Critical Strike Chance, Attack Speed, and Holy Damage — faster attacks mean more Holy Bolt casts, which means more Judgment detonations and more Lucky Hit triggers. Round it out with Maximum Life and Resistances so you survive while kiting.

Ultimate Guide Strategy Guide + Weekly Pro Tips

Elites feel great when they are standing in trash: tag the cluster, force Vulnerable, and let the surrounding mobs amplify the chain. A lone elite slows you down, because your damage comes from spread, not single-target. Keep your uptime clean, avoid wasted Purify casts, and drag the elite into the next wave when the activity allows it.
This is the honest weak point, and it is better said up front than buried. Holy Purifier can kill bosses, but it is built to dominate density, not single targets. Keep Vulnerable up with Purify, lean on Heaven’s Fury for sustained damage, and exploit any add spawns — that is where your chain reaction briefly comes back online. If your goal is pushing boss-heavy endgame, a more single-target Paladin setup will scale more naturally. For a stronger pushing alternative, see our Falling Star Arbiter Paladin build.
This build earns its keep when enemies arrive in layers:
That profile makes Holy Purifier a strong “get established first” build: easy to bring online, comfortable to pilot once you understand spacing, and very good at farming the content that gears the rest of your season. If you want a leveling-to-endgame Paladin to pair with it, our Paladin Zealous Shredder guide covers the early curve in detail.
Run the Judicator Oath, lock in Purify with Absolution as your engine, keep Holy Bolt firing to trigger detonations, and gear toward the Heaven’s Radiant Fire set with the Judicator, Proselytizing, and Golden Hour aspects. Point all of it at dense, wave-based content. For the gear chase, our Griswold’s Opus farm guide covers a strong Paladin-only weapon worth picking up alongside this build. Play Holy Purifier for the content it is meant to crush, and it stops looking merely strong and starts looking unfair.
